South West Investment Group Limited has for over 20 years been providing risk capital to small and medium sized enterprises in the South West, with monies sourced from both the public sector (local authorities, European funds, SWRDA etc) and the private sector. It currently has almost £20m of risk capital invested or available in a variety of
different funds to businesses throughout the South West. Largely this money is invested as loan finance, for businesses which are seeking to grow, but cannot obtain the full amount from their bankers. We work closely with private sector sources of funds, but do not compete with them.
South West Investment Group Limited is a not-for-profit making company and all its monies and any return on its monies are used to achieve economic prosperity through the provision of risk capital investment to businesses in the South West. It is the ultimate holding company for
South West Investment Group (Capital) Limited, which holds all the various geographically or activity focussed funds and
South West Investment Group Services Limited, which provides a fund management service.
Most, but not all, of the organisation’s activity has been focussed in the far South West in Cornwall, Devon and Somerset because of the public sector European funds available in those areas. Some funds are available throughout the South West and our current directors are drawn from a mixture of private and public sector throughout the region including Cornwall Council, Devon County Council, Lloyds Bank PLC, Barclays Bank PLC, Gloucestershire First and Bristol City Council and some private sector individuals with expertise in finance and investment.
South West Investment Group Limited provides a strategic monitoring role on the activities of the subsidiary companies and an overall strategic direction to the group.
